High School Leadership Awards: Mohammed Ali, Lea Brock, Ellie Eckman

Congratulations to our latest recipients of the Rotary 14 High School Student Leadership Award. Mohammed Ali from Northeast High School, Lea Brock from Lincoln High School, and Ellie Eckman from Southwest High School joined Rotary 14 on Tuesday, March 31 to accept this honor.

Every year, Rotary 14 invites a student from each local high school to present information to the club membership regarding the importance of community service at their school. To share the Rotary mission with area high school students and create an interest in the ideals of service. Committee members work with school administrators to identify a student leader to accept the award and work with those students to create a short presentation to be given at a regular club meeting.

These same students are encouraged to participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards seminar held by Rotary District 5650 each spring. They are also made aware of the Club’s High School Scholarship criteria and encouraged to apply, if appropriate.

The Pats' Prairie Walk for Polio

Pat Birch and Pat Leach invite Rotarians and their friends to join them for a prairie walk to support Rotary’s Global Polio Eradication Initiative. We'll celebrate the prairie in spring and Earth Day. Join us at the earth-shelter home of Pat Leach and Bill Oberg for short-and-easy walks through the prairie at their place just northwest of Lincoln. To sweeten the deal, Pat and Pat will provide home-baked cookies and coffee. Come to walk in nature or just enjoy the view and the cookies. Further details and a map will be sent following registration.

A $50 donation per person is requested. Checks should be made out to "Polio Plus" and turned in at the event.
