Sharing a Love of Reading with Kids
We have enjoyed staying connected to Everett students by “Zoom reading” to them every single week since September.  The new format has been very successful and we created this short video to share our experience as readers! Click here to watch the video edited by Randy Bretz. Shout out to U.S. Bank for being the sponsor of the Read Aloud program this year, providing 2 new books per month to each Everett child we read to throughout the school year.  “U.S. Bank is a proud member of the Lincoln community and thrilled to have the opportunity to support the students, teachers, and families at Everett Elementary by sponsoring books for Rotary 14’s Read Aloud program.

Last Week at Rotary
Last week we heard from David Haring, Lincoln Airport at our evening meeting. Reminder that the temporary cost for lunch is $16. Those with lunch cards: we ask that you hold onto them until the finance committee and the club board decided on the final cost of lunch.  If you would like a refund, please work with Yolanda to request one. All Rotarians and guests attending will be asked to wear a mask while not eating or drinking, avoid shaking hands, and be mindful of personal space. Rotary #14 will host a Polio Bike Ride on Sunday, May 16, at Pioneers Park at 1.30 p.m. Contact Jennifer Brinkman or Mark Stephens with questions. The Gathering Place will begin using volunteers again in May. If you are interested in participating, please contact Kristin Yates to make sure your name is on the committee list. Thank you, Randy Hawthorne, for joining the tech team!  We still need at least three more members to join this committee to help ensure we continue to offer a hybrid meeting format. We will train you on how to run Zoom or share slides.  Contact President Eric. Special thanks to Todd Crawford, Tim Kenny, and Pat Birch for hosting a fantastic roadside cleanup this Saturday and following Earth Day celebration.  It was a great opportunity to serve with fellow Rotarians and celebrate the common home we all have!
