Stories
This Week's Speaker (Nov. 14): Evan Killeen, CEO | Lincoln Children's Zoo

As the Chief Executive Officer for Lincoln Children’s Zoo, Evan Killeen oversees all operations of the Zoo and manages the revenues and expenses. Over the past 12 years, the Zoo has seen a great deal of operational success thanks to Mr. Killeen, with the Zoo budget increasing from $1.7 million to $7 million over that time. Additionally, Mr. Killeen presided over the largest expansion and capital campaign in Zoo history. A Nebraska native and graduate of the University of Nebraska Lincoln, Mr. Killeen has deep roots in Lincoln, Nebraska, and a strong focus on serving his community. Before becoming CEO, Mr. Killeen served as the COO from 2011 to 2022. Prior to the Lincoln Children’s Zoo, Mr. Killeen successfully managed the Lincoln Children’s Museum as Deputy Director and previously led the Education Department at the Strategic Air and Space Museum.

Little Free Pantries Cash Collection on Nov. 14
As we enter the season of gratitude, Morrie Enders will be collecting cash donations at this Tuesday's meeting for Little Free Pantries. These donations will be transformed into food and other important pantry items and will be distributed by Little Free Panties committee members throughout the city. Thank you for your help!
An Everett Elementary/Rotary Tradition
This Thursday, November 16, is the annual Rotary 14 Thanksgiving meal with the parents in the Family Literacy Class at Everett Elementary. Join us at 8:30 a.m. (mashed potatoes for breakfast!) to share a meal of traditional American dishes provided by Rotary and traditional foods from other countries provided by the families in the class.

Please RSVP to Stacy Gutschenritter or Anne Brandt. We would appreciate it if you could sign up to bring something for the meal, even if you cannot stay to eat:
Salvation Army Bell Ringing Sign Ups Are Available

Every December, Rotarians volunteer to ring bells on behalf of the Salvation Army. Rotary 14 commits to a full day of bell-ringing, but each Rotarian is asked to give just one hour on a given Saturday to share in the spirit of the holidays and give back to the Lincoln community. This year, Rotary 14 is ringing bells between 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at various sites across Lincoln on Saturday, December 2.

Dictionary Project Success
A huge thank you to all who are supporting the Dictionary Project! We had a tremendous crowd for the labeling party on October 30 and what a fun evening it was! Classroom presentations are happening now. By the end of November, we will have put a dictionary in the hands of 3,359 students and their teachers. Teachers have told us there are so many learning opportunities with the dictionaries. Well done, Rotarians!
