July 25, 2023 Rotary Speaker Nancy Montanez Johner
NANCY MONTANEZ JOHNER

Nancy Montanez Johner is a professional with a passion for social work and management. With a career spanning over 30 years, Nancy has dedicated herself to making a positive impact on individuals and communities.

Starting her journey in the field of social work, Nancy quickly discovered her innate ability to connect with people and understand their unique needs. She worked tirelessly to advocate for those who were marginalized and vulnerable, striving to create a more inclusive and just society. Nancy's compassion and empathy have been invaluable assets in her work, allowing her to build strong relationships with clients and gain their trust.

Recognizing the importance of effective leadership in driving meaningful change, Nancy decided to expand her skill set and pursued a career in management. She was fortunate to lead the Department of Health and Human Services under Governor Johanns administration, serving the largest state arm of government at that time. She honed her organizational and strategic planning abilities, successfully leading teams and projects at the federal level to achieve outcomes in feeding children and individuals in need as The Undersecretary of Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services under President George Bush administration. Her ability to inspire and motivate her colleagues has been instrumental in fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment as the Deputy Chief of Staff/State Director for Senator Johanns to serve Nebraskans.

She worked tirelessly to advocate for vulnerable children and ensure their safety, well-being, and access to essential resources in the Children and Families Services.

Driven to expand her ability to make a difference, Nancy expanded her horizons and ventured into the realm of medical and dental services as the Executive Director of Clinic with a Heart. Recognizing the crucial role that access to quality healthcare plays in fostering healthy communities.
Rotary Reintroduction of Pat Stear
Recently, Membership Committee CoChair Mark Feit, introduced returning Rotarian Pat Stear. Pat is a Doane cum laude College graduate with a degree in music education and languages and taught those in public and private schools.

Before college, she was a Rotary Exchange Student in Tucumán, a northern province in Argentina. It was the best of any education for her!!! She went with no knowledge of Spanish and became fluent by complete immersion, living with three families and traveling to 19 cities with Felix Kitroser, the then Rotary Governor of our district, and his wife Sarita. He later became the International President of Rotary.

Since her exchange year, she became fluent in French, two kinds of sign language, and loves greeting and thanking people in about twenty languages. Being involved in the Lincoln Commission for International Visitors has been rewarding.

Rotary 14 PGE - Club Survey

Rotary 14 Club Survey
The Project Grants Evaluation Committee (PGE) is responsible for effectively focusing the financial and volunteer resources of the club at the local, district, and international levels, to ensure that those resources align with Rotary International and Rotary 14 priorities. Committee guidelines require PGE to survey the Rotary 14 membership every other year to determine our highest priority areas. Those guidelines also ask us to consult annually with Prosper Lincoln for information on community needs, and you will see that noted on the survey. Now we need your input! Please complete the survey here by July 31, 2023.
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/C8WCDJL

Your answers will help determine the focus areas for project grants, volunteer efforts, Rise Shine Give recipients, and will help guide the club as we respond to new opportunities. For questions, please
contact PGE Chair Victoria Grasso at victoria.grasso@cooperfoundation.org.
