Andrea Phillips is the coordinator for school social workers at Lincoln Public Schools. Before becoming a coordinator, she was a school social worker with LPS for ten years and prior to that she worked in a youth mental health program and ran a private practice. She has an undergraduate degree from UNL and a Master of Social Work degree from UNO. Andrea is a licensed mental health practitioner and the current board president of the National Association of Social Workers in Nebraska. Andrea understands the great importance of connections and supportive relationships for students. She will be speaking with us about the impact of the pandemic on mental health and how supportive relationships and mentoring make a difference.
January 17, 2023, Lincoln NE. Kate Engel introduced new Rotarian Shelley McHugh. Shelley McHugh is a life-long resident of the greater Lincoln area and has strong family ties here. A graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University, she has spent her career building relationships with people for both non-profit organizations and for-profit businesses within our community. Most recently, she has spent the past ten years as the Director of Alumni Relations for NWU, fostering engagement with and garnering support from Wesleyan alumni and friends who are making a positive impact around the world. Prior to that, she has served in various leadership positions and client focused roles within the Arbor Day Foundation, Kenexa, Experian and the Arthritis Foundation in Lincoln over the course of 30 years.

Fifty percent of the event proceeds will go to HopeSpoke. The remaining proceeds will help us increase future giving capacity to benefit the numerous community service organizations who apply for funds from our Lincoln Rotary Club 14 Foundation. Past recipients include the Gathering Place, Everett Elementary School, South of Downtown Neighborhood, Tabitha, Child Advocacy Center, Voices of Hope, Junior Achievement, and the Malone Center – to name just a few.

Everett Holiday Giving Tree Co-Chairs wanted to provide an update for the Everett Family Literacy 2022 Holiday Giving Tree.
Last January 11, 2023, they were able to celebrate with the Family Literacy mom/students due to the school cancellation prior to Christmas & the LPS Holiday break.
We appreciate everyone's monetary donations this year. The Committee Chairs could buy gifts for each mom/student and their families.
Past President Randy Bretz is not slowing down and he is always on high gear with his involvement in Rotary. Recently, Randy was a volunteer first grade teacher at Rousseau Elementary. Thank you, Randy!
On Saturday, October 29, Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln, Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and members of Lincoln Rotary Club 14, Lincoln Women of Today, Lincoln Quilting Guild and the REALTORS Association of Lincoln gathered to celebrate Martha's home dedication. What a special occasion! Lincoln Rotary Club 14 is proud to be a contributing member to this project.
