On March 6th, Allen Beerman was awarded the NSAA Distinguished Service Award. The Outstanding & Distinguished Awards, started in 1979, are presented annually to individuals who have gone above and beyond what was expected of them in support of high school activities. The Distinguished Service Award recognizes those individuals that have made contributions to the entire Nebraska School Activities Association and its member schools as a whole. Congratulations, Allen!
On March 9, Scott Larson recognized PP Melanie Whittamore-Mantzios as Paul Harris Fellow. Melanie works at Wolfe, Snowden, Hurd, Luers & Ahl, LLP. She joined Rotary in July 2007 and has served as: Sergeant-At-Arms 2009-10, Director 2011-13, President 2014-15 along with 5 years of perfect attendance. Her contribution of $1,000 to TRF will help in eradicating polio and support TRF's priorities in protecting the environment, fighting disease, providing clean water, supporting education, maternal health, and protecting the environment.
PP Mike Wortman dedicated a PHF to his brother Lee Kreader, a graduate of Lincoln Southeast. Lee has lived a life of service as a child advocate. He worked in Chicago helping children and families in poverty. He oversaw 26 YMCA daycare centers and later was director of Daycare Center Council of Illinois. He also worked in Harlem and with Columbia University in New York City. He was a tireless advocate for poor children's healthy environments. His life demonstrates the Rotary ideal of Service about Self and worthy of recognition as a Paul Harris Fellow. Congratulations, Lee!
