Welcome New Rotarian Dr. Ted Carter
Ted Carter became the eighth president of the University of Nebraska on Jan. 1, 2020, following a national search by the Board of Regents. As president, Carter leads a four-campus university system that enrolls nearly 52,000 students and employs 16,000 faculty and staff on campuses in Lincoln, Omaha and Kearney, plus academic divisions and research and extension centers across the state.

Welcome New Member Todd Francisco
Todd Francisco was born and raised in Lincoln NE, He is married to Tonja for 24 years and has three children, Bryce 22, Tianna 20, and Baylee 14. Todd is an avid artist that uses his talents to provide not only art with car shows, church stage designs but also through people. He works for ALLO Communications as a Business Sales Leader and plays a big part for the last 5 years. He is the president of SevenOaks Homeowner Association and president of Midwest Rollers Car Club.

Welcome Returning Rotarian Dan Kappel
Dan Kappel graduated from the University of Minnesota with a teaching degree in math and physics. He worked as a teacher in Minnesota for 4 years and spent the next 28 years working for the YMCA in various positions in Minneapolis, LA, Omaha, St Louis, and lastly Chicago. After 2 strokes, Dan retired in 2018 and move to Lincoln to be closer to his two grandchildren, his daughter, and son-in-law. He and his wife Helen, a retired occupational therapist both enjoy the Lincoln community and have made some good friends. He is happy to be a part of the Rotary movement once again as he was involved in Rotary 11 in St Louis.

Rotary Coffee May 14, Friday 9:00 AM
Our guest for the coffee this Friday, May 14, is Dean Mathisen, Director of Operations for Wounded Warriors Family Support located in Omaha.  WWFS is a four-star rated independent nonprofit organization that provides support to families of those who have been wounded, injured, or killed during combat operations.  It is working to get the word out throughout Nebraska and Western Iowa about the services and programs it provides to veterans and families. Sharing a Love of Reading with Kids
We have enjoyed staying connected to Everett students by “Zoom reading” to them every single week since September.  The new format has been very successful and we created this short video to share our experience as readers! Click here to watch the video edited by Randy Bretz. Shout out to U.S. Bank for being the sponsor of the Read Aloud program this year, providing 2 new books per month to each Everett child we read to throughout the school year.  “U.S. Bank is a proud member of the Lincoln community and thrilled to have the opportunity to support the students, teachers, and families at Everett Elementary by sponsoring books for Rotary 14’s Read Aloud program.
