A fourth-generation Nebraskan, born in Grant and raised in Imperial, Norman is a veteran journalist-turned copywriter-turned nonprofit professional. He’s the co-founder and executive director of Rabble Mill — a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides alternative youth programming in Lincoln and Omaha. Under moonlight, he co-operates a talent management company called Ride Home MGMT, and an indie publishing company called Take it Home. He and his wife Angie live with their son, Townes, in Omaha’s Benson.
Play, Engage, Serve and Recognize. Let's renew friendships and meet new friends ... urban, rural, large clubs and small clubs! We will welcome honored guest Dr. Sylvia Whitlock, the first woman in Rotary.
Chris Krueger just ended a banking career that spanned 36 years. She ended her career as Senior Vice President, Bank Operations in Phoenix Arizona with CIT Bank. (Formerly Mutual of Omaha Bank). Her career took her and her husband Mike to Arizona in 2014 where she was a member of Mesa West Rotary Club and served as President of the club in 2018-2019. She was also the Chair of the Membership Committee for District 5495. When First Citizens Bank bought CIT bank in 2021, Chris would have had to move to North Carolina in order to stay at her level of leadership. She and Mike decided that it was time to move back since the kids and grandchildren were still in Nebraska. Instead of continuing in banking, Chris decided to do something totally different and open a Pilates studio. Club Pilates, Lincoln is slated to open in the Spring of this year at 8222 Holdrege. Chris’ son Michael is her general manager and her daughter is her lead instructor making this a family venture. Eventually, Chris and Mike want to turn the day-to-day business dealings over to their children and winter in Arizona.

LOCAL and INTERNATIONAL get a real workout when LOCAL Rotary Club 14 hosts students from around the world at the annual International Student Picnic. It’s all LOCAL, though, as Club 14 Rotarians plan an afternoon for students from colleges and universities in the area to meet each other, to meet club members and their families, share a meal, and enjoy the fellowship that rings with laughter. Contributions to the Rotary 14 Foundation provide total financial for the picnic.
However, it’s all INTERNATIONAL as the Rotary International Foundation commits to the challenge of peacebuilding and finding the greatest possible impact that will achieve lasting positive change worldwide. Could that peacebuilding endeavor include a picnic?
MORE LOCAL GIFTS
Speaking of LOCAL gifts, take note of these Rotarians who made gifts of time and treasure to strengthen the success of RISE.SHINE.GIVE. Rotary members Jim Mastera, Tim Kinney, and Mark Stephens spent hours securing sponsorships. Sarah Lux, Karen Barrett, Erin Dobesh, Julie Robinson and Sandi Fabry gathered silent auction items, and Jon Gayer promoted Epic Experiences. Of course, there was a raffle, and where there is a Rotary raffle, there is Mike Wortman! The voices of Christine Weeks and Mark Feit kept things rolling smoothly while Katie King and Michelle Zlomke steered the project to a successful landing as Christina Usher was the supervisor for all things whiskey and wine!! Huge thanks to each and every one of them. Additional thanks to the R.S.G. trio; Kyle Cartwright, John Gessert, and Chris Sommerich. Their agent has been contacted regarding another musical performance in 2024. Kudos to Randy Bretz, Ryan Dobesh, Eric Drumheller, Jessica McMullen, Becki Roberts and Jennifer Williams. These Rotarians are, indeed, gifts!!
Since 1988, Rotary #14 has been honoring Nebraskans, who have distinguished themselves through service to others in keeping with ideals of Rotary International. These Nebraskans have shown honesty, integrity, and concern for others through leadership and significant contributions to their profession and their communities. This award is open to ALL Nebraskans except elected officials, currently in office. Nominees do NOT have to be a Rotarian.
The goal each year is to select one honoree from a statewide field based on the following criteria:

On Saturday, October 29, Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln, Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and members of Lincoln Rotary Club 14, Lincoln Women of Today, Lincoln Quilting Guild and the REALTORS Association of Lincoln gathered to celebrate Martha's home dedication. What a special occasion! Lincoln Rotary Club 14 is proud to be a contributing member to this project.
Big shout out to Immediate Past President Christina Usher, who was instrumental in making Rotary part of Martha's home as the recipient of the proceeds from Rise.Shine.Give last year. Below is the video of Martha's Home Dedication.
Here's the unedited live capture video of President John Gessert's rendition of Come Together Right Now, Rotary! The performance earned President John Gessert and his Rotary band a standing ovation from fellow Rotarians.
