Troy Dannen is in his second year as Nebraska’s Director of Athletics, bringing decades of leadership in collegiate sports and a strong Midwestern background. Since arriving in March 2024, Dannen has overseen a highly successful year for Husker Athletics, with four teams finishing in the top four nationally—including volleyball, wrestling, men’s gymnastics, and bowling. The wrestling team earned a historic national runner-up finish, while the baseball and men’s track teams captured Big Ten titles. Nebraska also achieved its best Learfield Director’s Cup finish since 2010, placing 22nd overall. Nationally, Dannen has played a significant role in shaping the future of college athletics. He was appointed to the College Football Playoff Committee in 2025 and has served on seven NCAA committees, including the Constitution and Transformation Committees. His leadership and influence earned him recognition as a finalist for Sports Business Journal’s Athletic Director of the Year and the Distinguished American Award from the National Football Foundation. Before Nebraska, Dannen served as Athletic Director at the University of Washington, where he helped lead a College Football Playoff run, and previously spent nearly a decade at Tulane University. There, he drove major athletic success and oversaw record fundraising, capital projects, and academic achievement. His tenure at Northern Iowa saw similar accomplishments, including a men’s basketball Sweet 16 appearance and multiple NCAA tournament bids across sports. A UNI graduate, Dannen grew up near Marshalltown, Iowa, and is married to Amy, with four children. Please note that this was a meeting that required pre-registration due to limited space.
