Welcome Newest Rotarian Megan Sparling
Megan Sparling has lived in the Lincoln area for the past 8 years. She graduated from Concordia University with a degree in Music, an emphasis in Piano and Music Composition. After graduation in 2017, Megan found work in graphic design and works at Kana Systems as a Communications Lead and Graphic Designer. 
 
Megan is not new to Rotary, as she shared her graphic design expertise last year for our  Rotary Yearbook. She comes to Rotary through our corporate Partner for Good, Kana Systems, sponsored by IPP Mailaini Veney. Thank you, Mailani, for sponsoring Megan to Rotary! Welcome, Megan!

Matthew and Harlow Scheef are PHF
On March 16, The Rotary Foundation (TRF) Chair Scott Larson recognized Matthew Scheef as Paul Harris Fellow +2 and his daughter Harlow Scheef as Paul Harris Fellow. Matthew works at Eakes Office Plus and joined Rotary in August of 2007 and has served as Director 2015-17. Harlow Scheef is only in Kindergarten and she is the youngest to be awarded the Paul Harris Fellow this year. Their combined contribution of $4,000 to TRF will help in eradicating polio and support TRF's priorities in fighting disease, providing clean water, supporting education, maternal health, growing local economy, fighting disease, and protecting the environment.

2021 National Guard Association Awards
Congratulations to Rotary #14 members Allen Beerman and Craig Strong for being honored with awards at the 2021 National Guard Association of Nebraska business meeting. Allen received the E. Benjamin Nelson Award, Gen.. Craig Strong received a Distinguished Service Award.
Allen Beermann Receives E. Benjamin Nelson Award
LTC (RET) Allen Beermann was awarded the E. Benjamin Nelson Award. For outstanding achievement during a 48-year career in public service to our state. He served as the Secretary of State from 1971 to 1994 and 24 years as the executive director of the Nebraska Press Association. LTC Beermann continues to be active in the Big Red Sub Club, organizing annual visits to the USS Nebraska and also hosting the crew each year at the Statehood Day Dinner. Congratulations, Allen!

Last Week at Rotary
Last week at Rotary a  hybrid meeting at Lincoln Community Playhouse. Presiding officer was Eric Drumheller. Secretary was Morrie Enders. Tech consultants were Ryan Dobesh & Trip Snyder. Greeters were Marcia White & Tom Klein. Program host, Anna Hernoud introduced speaker, Bob Inglis. Please keep Megan Elliott and her family in your thoughts as her husband, Brendan Harkin, passed away on March 15. Scott Larson and his family in your thoughts as Scott's father, Reverend Ralph Larson, passed away on March 5. Congratulations to: Matthew Scheef and his daughter Harlow on receiving your Paul Harris Fellows (PHF+2 for Matthew, PHF for Harlow). Mailani Veney on landing a major multi-year contract. Mailani agreed to pay a $500 fun-fine in honor of her five-year contract. Thank you, Mailani!
