Overview:  The next time you pull into a parking spot or garage, give a little extra consideration to the pavement you’ve stopped on.  It likely has a past many are not aware of.  That is until August 26 when Lincoln historian Jim McKee joins us for A History of Lincoln’s Parking Lots and gives us a unique look at a bit of Lincoln’s past that literally lies at our feet.  Jim McKee is the author of over 1,500 articles and books on Lincoln and Nebraska history. Jim was born December 12, 1940, Lincoln, and his Great-grandparents pioneered in Lancaster County, NE, ca.1870.  Jim is a Lincoln Northeast graduate and received his BA in Psychology and BS in Economics at the University of NE, Lincoln.  He married Linda L. Hillegass, on June 9, 1978 and his daughter Laura J. Sweet is currently COO of Des Moines Civic Center.  Jim has been a local history adjunct professor (Lincoln History, copyright law, publishing) at Southeast Community College, Lincoln, NE, since 1970. He currently presents about 50 talks a year to church, civic, professional and historical groups including a number through the Nebraska Humanities Council.
